Virtual Paddling Rehab VR App
VIRTUAL PADDLING
REHAB APP
MY CONTRIBUTION:
3D ARTIST:
Creation of two 3D environments from scratch
Modeling, texturing, and integration of custom assets
Adaptation of existing animations
DESCRIPTION: Research application on the possible use of VR for the physical rehabilitation of children aged 6-15 with cerebral palsy.
PROGRAMMER:
Modification of existing scripts
Creation of several original scripts in C#
Management of distraction levels based on menu selection
Management of events triggered by the number of bounces
Configurable menu controlling various aspects of the app, serialized from session to session
The purpose of the VR application is to ask children to perform a simple task in a 3D environment (bounce a ping pong ball on a paddle) and record various parameters (engagement, distraction, frustration, number of bounces, etc.). The goal of the research is ultimately to create an algorithm that adjusts the game's difficulty level in real-time. It would adapt to the children's level of engagement to keep them stimulated throughout the game, maximizing their rehabilitation.
